Want to Volunteer?

With 29 sports taking place over four weekends at 41 venues in seven counties, the State Games staff cannot possibly manage all of the details of the State Games of Mississippi. That’s where the volunteers come in. More than 400 volunteers from all walks of life man the souvenir stands, entrance gates, and registration tables. They deliver all of the supplies, make sure there is adequate hydration, report results, and generally serve as the hands, legs, eyes and ears of the Games.

Volunteer of the Year Recognized
The 2010 State Games of Mississippi  Volunteer of the Year is Mr. Johnny Polman of Meridian.  Johnny has been volunteering with the State Games for many years.  He started helping out at the 4-Man Volleyball venue six years ao.  From there, he added another weekend, dedicating his time to 2-Man Volleyball.  As if that were not enought, Johnny became Co-commissioner of the 5K Run and Walk for two years.  Because of his involvement, this  event has increased its participation by more than 30%.  Johnny is also a visible volunteer at one of the State Games newer sporting events, Cross Country.
